Welcome to the Stay Sunny blog!

Updated: Aug 9, 2020

First of all, welcome! Thank you for stopping by to check out my blog. I have been a fan of blogs for some time and never thought I would have enough to say that other people would find interesting. However, I will say that life certainly comes at you fast and will change that in a second.

A little bit about me

I am a new first-time mom to a beautiful, funny, adventurous little girl named Sunny! Her real name is actually Soleil, which is French for Sun, but we call her Sunny. I wanted her to have a bright, happy name that would hopefully dictate her disposition in life. At this point, Sunny is 6 months old and what a ride it has been!

I also have two dogs, Andy and Swayze. Andy is a 15-year old Westie (Insta: @westieattheartshow) who has been with me since I was 16 years old. He's an independent soul, but loves love. I adopted Swayze from an animal rescue in August 2018 when he was 4 years old. He is a part-Chihuahua mix. He is a sweet dog, but wild to say the least.

I worked in medical software sales for a few years prior to my daughter's birth and returned to work after a 12-week maternity leave once COVID shutdowns started happening. Balancing the the stressful work/new mom life in the middle of a pandemic was not for the weak.

I've been married to my husband, J.P., for 2.5 years at this point after dating for 6.5 years. After almost 10 years of being together, we have weathered a lot of storms and some we're still trying to navigate. Relationships are hard, marriage is hard, marriage after your first baby is hard, marriage while grieving a loss is hard, marriage during COVID is hard, and marriage during cancer is hard! I will get into all that more in future posts.

When I said life comes at you fast, that brings me to my reason for finally starting this blog in the first place. On June 12, 2020, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I'm currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment for the next several months. I've taken a huge step back from a high-stress sales position so that I can focus on my health and my daughter first and foremost.

I want this blog to be a positive outlet for me and for any other woman who derives value from anything I write. My intention is to cover all topics new moms and young women face every day and keep things light. Life can be so difficult, so we can't lose sight of the beauty of it all.

Spread love and light!

Stay Sunny,

Renata
